Description

Whiskey: Basil Hayden’s Two by Two Rye Whiskey Basil Hayden’s Rye Whiskey comes a blend of two Kentucky Straight bourbon whiskies and two Kentucky Straight rye whiskies. Size: 750mL Proof: 80 (40% ABV) Origin: United States Distillery: Kentucky Springs Distilling Co. Inspired by the legend of a family recipe that dates back to 1796 when rye whiskey and corn whiskey were blended, Two by Two is the latest spirit to join the Basil Hayden’s line. The whiskey is a blend of 5-year-old Kentucky Straight Rye, a 7-year-old Kentucky Straight Rye, a 13-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon, and a 6-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon. The four whiskeys are expertly fused to create this light-bodied, flavorful dram that is bottled at 80 proof and adorned with a hand-applied green parchment bib label and signature copper belt. Basil Hayden’s Two by Two Rye Whiskey Tasting Notes Nose: Notes of banana, brown sugar and toasted sesame. Palate: Light body with a warm texture. Finish: Long, vanilla finish. Distillery Information In 1796, Master Distiller Basil Hayden Sr. broke ‘the rules’ by mixing small grains into the mash of a traditional corn base. A Maryland transplant unafraid to stand out amidst the residing establishment, Basil conjectured that the spicy flavor of rye would be a striking complement to the sweet smoothness of corn in his distillery’s standard bourbon.
