Order from the Largest & Most Trusted Premium Spirits Marketplace! Featured in ROLLING STONE MEN’S JOURNAL US WEEKLY Size: 750ML Proof: 80 (40% ABV) Origin: Meixco Distillery: La Altena distillery Tapatio is produced at La Alteña distillery in Jalisco, where generations of the Camarena family have been making tequila, mostly for local consumption. This a joint project between Carlos Camarena and Marko Karakasevic of Charbay Winery & Distillery in Napa. The 100% estate-grown blue agave is roasted for 4 days and fermented with a proprietary yeast culture that dates back 75 years. It’s double-distilled in copper pot stills, aged 18 months in ex-bourbon barrels and undiluted to retain natural flavors. Tapatio Anejo Tequila Tasting Notes Nose: Olive brine nose with aromas of fino sherry, leather and earthy, spicy chargrilled vegetables. Palate: Initially slightly sweet vanilla rich palate quickly turns drier and more complex with salty spiced vegetable notes. A grilled aubergine, light woodiness runs throughout. Finish: Long lasting salty, spicy finish. Distillery Information Don Felipe Camarena was born into a family that had distilled tequila since back in the early 1800s but the family’s original distillery was destroyed and abandoned during the Mexican Revolution. As a young man Don Felipe followed his family’s roots by growing and selling agave to other distillers. He prospered and in 1937 opened La Alteña Distillery in the highlands of Los Altos close to the town of Arandas. Alteña literally translates as ‘lady from the highlands’.
