The brand took its Tequila Plata and then blended that with a reposado Tequila it had matured in French oak casks as well as an Extra Añejo aged in American whiskey casks and finished in sherry casks. Distillery Information Mexican founder Arturo Lomeli launched Clase Azul in 1997, and the label has come a long way since the original sombrero packaging it was originally bestowed with. Now, the Tequila is presented in recognisable hand-sculpted, hand-painted ceramic decanters. This may have something to do with the fact that Lomeli went and got a Master’s Degree in Marketing in 2000, as well as studying to become a Master Distiller.
