NOM 1146 For generations, the Fonseca family supplied big tequila brands with their estate-grown agave from the Los Altos (Highlands) region of Jalisco. In 1990, renegotiated contracts left the family with acres of growing agave and not enough buyers. Don Enrique Fonseca decided to produce his own tequila and purchased La Tequileña distillery, located in the Tequila Valley (Lowlands). He called the brand “Don Fulano,” a generic name that roughly translates to “someone.” Don Fulano Reposado is a blend of various tequilas that have aged 8 to 24 months in both new and used French Limousin oak. Don Fulano Reposado Tequila Tasting Notes Nose: Vanilla sponge cake and butterscotch with soft spices notes and a lingering agave character. Full but not too intense, overall a very good balance of the wood influence and the Tequila character. Palate: Soft with some vanilla sweetness, quite buttery and mouth-filling. Definitely a palate that pairs with lighter style cigars well. Finish: The sweetness is overcome by a distinct mineral spiciness. Grassy and raw vegetal notes develop as well, giving this softer, sweeter style of Tequila a well-balanced finish.
